Air Canada Cancels Several U.S. Cities, Boosts Capacity On Other Routes

Air Canada is making several notable changes to its U.S. network based on what I’ve found so far.

The airline no longer plans to fly to three U.S. cities this coming summer:

  • Hartford, CT (BDL)

  • Kansas City, MO (MCI)

  • Baltimore, MD (BWI)

Each destination was previously served from Toronto (YYZ) and planned to return in Summer 2025. Alongside these cuts, Air Canada will not resume its YYZ to Portland (PDX) route next year.

For Montreal (YUL), Air Canada planned to operate flights to New Orleans through the summer, but will now suspend the route after March 9.

Aside from these cancelations, a number of other routes are set to receive frequency reductions.

On the other hand, Air Canada plans to increase capacity at several other destinations, including introducing mainline service:

  • Toronto (YYZ) to Chicago (ORD) increase from 4x to 6x daily

  • Philadelphia (PHL) to receive 1 daily Airbus A220-300 from YYZ starting May 1

  • Raleigh/Durham (RDU) to receive 1 daily Airbus A220-300 from YYZ starting May 1

  • St. Louis (STL) to receive 1 daily Airbus A220-300 from YYZ starting May 1

  • Charlotte (CLT) to receive 1 daily Airbus A220-300 starting June 1

PHL/RDU/STL/CLT will continue seeing regional jets on Air Canada’s other Toronto flights.
