Alaska Airlines Adds New California Routes, Filling in Avelo’s Exits
Alaska Airlines will be expanding with several new routes:
Burbank (BUR) to Eugene, OR (EUG)
Burbank (BUR) to Pasco, WA (PSC)
Burbank (BUR) to Redmond, OR (RDM)
Santa Rosa (STS) to Palm Springs, CA (PSP)
These new routes will all begin on October 26 using the Embraer 175. The Burbank routes will operate year-round with 1x daily flights while STS-PSP operates seasonally 5x weekly.
Alaska’s entrance into these markets comes as Avelo Airlines completely discontinues all West Coast flights this December, including these four routes.
Alaska won’t be the only carrier on the three Burbank routes as Breeze Airways also announced plans to launch them. However, Breeze’s service will not begin until March 2026, nearly six months after Alaska begins flights.
When Avelo added flights from BUR to Santa Rosa (STS) and Boise (BOI) years ago, Alaska shortly responded by entering the same markets. Now as Avelo exits the West Coast, Alaska has chosen to pick up several routes, bringing the airline to 8 nonstop routes from Burbank.
In addition, Alaska will expand with two more non-hub routes:
Ontario (ONT) to Boise (BOI)
Orange County (SNA) to Spokane (GEG)
Both will begin on January 7 using a 1x daily Embraer 175.
