American Airlines is adding a new route from its Charlotte (CLT) hub to Orange County (SNA) in California.

Starting June 1, American will launch daily flights between Charlotte and Orange County using its Airbus A321neo aircraft. As of now, the route is available until August 14. This may get extended when American updates its domestic schedules past mid-August, or Charlotte to Orange County will only operate during the peak summer season.

The new Charlotte to Orange County route is scheduled with the following timings:

  • AA2099 Depart Charlotte at 6:39 PM Arrive in Orange County at 8:39 PM

  • AA1759 Depart Orange County at 9:21 PM Arrive in Charlotte at 5:00 AM (next day)

The flight number AA2099 is notable as this CLT-SNA route has a distance of 2,099 miles according to the Great Circle Mapper.

Orange County’s John Wayne Airport has seen an increase in nonstop routes to the eastern side of the United States this year, primarily through Breeze Airways’ new flights to Orlando, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Columbus. American’s new flight to Charlotte joins the airport’s eastward expansion.

Charlotte will be American’s sixth destination from Orange County following Phoenix (PHX), Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), Chicago (ORD), New York (JFK), and Austin (AUS).
