Delta Air Lines to Add More New Austin Routes, Including Service to Indianapolis, Memphis, San Francisco, Tampa
Delta Air Lines continues expanding from Austin, Texas (AUS) with several new routes:
Austin to Panama City, Florida (ECP) starting March 9, 2025
Austin to Indianapolis (IND) starting May 7, 2025
Austin to Memphis (MEM) starting May 7, 2025
Austin to San Francisco (SFO) starting June 8, 2025
Austin to Tampa (TPA) starting June 8, 2025
All routes will operate daily. AUS to ECP/IND/MEM will use the Embraer 175 while AUS to SFO/TPA are on the Airbus A220-300.
Notably, AUS to ECP/IND/MEM/TPA are routes that American Airlines recently exited as the carrier continues to cut back on its own Austin flights. Memphis is currently unserved from Austin after American cut the route while the other three cities face competition from Southwest Airlines.
Austin to San Francisco is a unique addition. Delta is likely targeting the business market between Austin and the Bay Area. The carrier will directly compete against Alaska and United Airlines on AUS-SFO.
Delta Air Lines recently established Austin as a “key access point to facilitate connections to its larger global network”, according to its announcement back in December 2023. The airline has now added ten new routes from the city in the past year alone. In addition to these five new routes, Delta also added service from Austin to Nashville (BNA), Midland/Odessa (MAF), McAllen (MFE), Harlingen (HRL), and New Orleans (MSY).
With these new additions, Delta now plans to offer up to 56 daily departures from Austin to 22 destinations. This represents around a 50% increase in departures compared to before Delta’s expansion in late 2023.
