Norse Atlantic Airways Plans Boston, Dublin, Washington DC Routes in 2023
Update February 28, 2023:
Norse has announced its new London to Boston, Los Angeles, and Washington DC routes. According to the airline, this is their finalized schedule, meaning it appears Dublin will not start in Summer 2023.
Following a slow winter, Norse Atlantic Airways plans to expand its network with at least four new destinations in Summer 2023.
Norse, which commenced operations in June 2022, intends to begin flying to several new destinations next year:
Boston, USA | Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
Dublin, Ireland | Dublin Airport (DUB)
Washington D.C., USA | Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
Paris, France | Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)
From these four airports, Norse Atlantic Airways plans to add the following five routes:
Dublin (DUB) to Boston (BOS)
Dublin (DUB) to New York (JFK)
London (LGW) to Boston (BOS)
London (LGW) to Washington D.C. (IAD)
Paris (CDG) to New York (JFK)
Norse Atlantic Airways received slots at Dublin Airport for the current winter season, but opted to not utilize them. The airline has once again received slots for the summer season—enough for up to two daily flights—and now intends to begin flying from Dublin to New York JFK and Boston. Both routes have existing competition with Aer Lingus and Delta Air Lines.
Norse will also expand its London Gatwick (LGW) network with new flights to Boston and Washington D.C. (IAD). While the LGW to IAD route is currently unserved, British Airways, United Airlines, and Virgin Atlantic offer flights from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Washington D.C. Additionally, JetBlue currently serves the LGW to Boston route, which launched in August 2022.
At the time of publication, Norse has already announced its new Paris (CDG) to New York (JFK) route, which inaugurates in March 2023. However, the other routes have not been announced, but should be formalized in the coming weeks.
More London Gatwick Routes
In addition to these new destinations, Norse Atlantic Airways also plans to add more London Gatwick (LGW) routes in 2023:
London (LGW) to Los Angeles (LAX)
London (LGW) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL)
London (LGW) to Orlando (MCO)
Presently, Norse offers flights from London Gatwick to New York (JFK) and Oslo (OSL). These routes are planned to continue operating with Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Boston, and Washington D.C. joining Norse’s London network next year.
More than half of Norse’s European capacity is expected to be located in London Gatwick for Summer 2023. Connectivity from EasyJet’s extensive network will augment Norse’s long-haul flying from London Gatwick. These new London Gatwick routes have also not been announced, but should be released in the coming weeks.
Norse Atlantic Airways maintains its objective to offer low-cost, long-haul flying with a fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The airline seeks to achieve profitability in 2023.
