Delta Air Lines Plans Airbus A350 Flights to Lima, Peru

Delta Air Lines intends to operate its largest aircraft to Lima, Peru starting next year.

Effective February 16, 2023, the airline will begin flying its Airbus A350-900 from Atlanta (ATL) to Lima (LIM), replacing the Boeing 767-300ER. The flight operates on a daily basis with the following schedule:

  • DL151 Depart ATL 10:55 PM Arrive LIM 5:20 AM (next day)

  • DL150 Depart LIM 9:00 AM Arrive ATL 3:25 PM

Notably, Delta’s Airbus A350-900 scheduled on the Atlanta to Lima route will be operated by a former LATAM Airlines A350. As of now, this aircraft offers a different in-flight product, most distinctly with business class in a 2-2-2 layout rather than Delta’s standard 1-2-1 configuration.

Delta has installed 339 seats in these former LATAM A350s. The 767-300ER that typically operates flights between Atlanta and Lima is configured with 226 seats. Introducing the 339-seat A350 on the route allows Delta to increase seat capacity by exactly 50%, yielding 113 additional daily seats each way. Furthermore, the A350 enables Delta to transport more cargo, which may also be a driving factor for switching from the 767 to the A350.

With the new joint venture between Delta and LATAM—which is subject to final approval—growth in South America is a logical move as Delta enhances connectivity through LATAM’s hubs.
