Breeze Airways Cancels Charleston-San Francisco Route, Suspends Other Flights

Breeze Airways is adjusting its network which includes the brief suspension of several routes alongside the removal of nonstop flights between Charleston (CHS) and San Francisco (SFO).

Breeze’s Charleston to San Francisco route is no longer planned to operate after January 4, 2023 based on updated schedules. The airline launched this route in May 2022 which marked its second transcontinental flight. Breeze’s Charleston to San Francisco route has seen numerous suspensions since its launch and will suspend again for most of November and half of December before the last flight in January. As of now, it’s unclear if Breeze intends to resume this route next summer.

While Breeze has removed the nonstop flight between Charleston and San Francisco, the airline will continue to offer BreezeThru tickets which include stops in cities such as Louisville (SDF), Richmond (RIC), and the upcoming addition of Cincinnati (CVG).

In addition to this route cut, Breeze will suspend 13 routes for varying durations in December:

  • Phoenix (PHX) to Charleston (CHS) from December 1 through 16

  • Phoenix (PHX) to Provo (PVU) from December 1 through 16

  • Provo (PVU) to Los Angeles (LAX) from December 1 through 15

  • Charleston (CHS) to Los Angeles (LAX) from December 1 through 15

  • Provo (PVU) to Las Vegas (LAS) from December 1 through 21

  • Charleston (CHS) to Las Vegas (LAS) from December 1 through 21

  • Charleston (CHS) to Columbus (CMH) from December 1 through 15

  • Hartford (BDL) to Columbus (CMH) from December 1 through 19

  • Hartford (BDL) to Nashville (BNA) from December 1 through 22

  • Tampa (TPA) to Louisville (SDF) from December 1 through 14

  • New Orleans (MSY) to Louisville (SDF) from December 1 through 21

  • Norfolk (ORF) to West Palm Beach (PBI) from December 1 through 22

  • Columbus (CMH) to West Palm Beach (PBI) from December 1 through 15

Breeze originally planned to inaugurate the first four routes listed above in early November, but recently delayed them to mid-November. The four routes will operate for the second half of November but will now suspend for the first half of December.

Additionally, Breeze’s Nashville (BNA) to Tulsa (TUL) route will now cease at the end of November instead of early January. This means Breeze will suspend all Tulsa service from December through February until its new route to Orlando (MCO) begins in March 2023.

The exact reason for these cuts starting just over a month away could be attributed to several factors, such as Airbus A220 delivery delays, high fuel prices, inflation, and staffing issues.

Despite these drawbacks, Breeze continues to expand its network with exciting new routes and destinations—including Cincinnati (CVG) and Vero Beach (VRB)—coming next year.
