Norse Atlantic Airways to Suspend Los Angeles, California

Norse Atlantic Airways will suspend all flights to Los Angeles, California (LAX) starting this October.

Norse Atlantic’s Berlin, Germany (BER) and Oslo, Norway (OSL) to Los Angeles routes will no longer operate after October 16. The airline intended to maintain three weekly frequencies for both routes through March 2023. It is currently unclear when Norse plans to resume Los Angeles flights, but it has now marked the routes as “seasonal”.

Additionally, Norse will reduce its Oslo to New York (JFK) route from daily to three times a week starting at the end of October. Oslo to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) will also be reduced from three weekly to two weekly flights. The Oslo to Orlando (MCO) route, which was already planned to suspend for the winter season, will now suspend earlier after October 15 instead of October 29.

Norse, which commenced operations in June 2022, has publicly stated it expects a “challenging winter” and will consider scaling back its winter schedule. These new cuts are likely in line with reduced demand alongside the persistent effects of inflation and high fuel prices.

Norse Atlantic still plans to launch its new Berlin to Fort Lauderdale route this December. With these new cuts, here is Norse’s planned network as of November 2022:

  • 3x weekly Oslo (OSL) to New York (JFK)

  • 2x weekly Oslo (OSL) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL)

  • 1x daily Oslo (OSL) to London Gatwick (LGW)

  • 1x daily London Gatwick (LGW) to New York (JFK)

  • 3x weekly Berlin (BER) to New York (JFK)

  • 3x weekly Berlin (BER) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) (New route, begins December 7)
